Carnduff was buzzing with energy this past weekend as the community came together for its second annual Fall Fling, an event designed to bring residents of all ages together through food, fun, and entertainment.
Organized by local groups and community leaders, the Fall Fling offered something for everyone, starting with a Saturday morning pancake breakfast and a vendor market featuring 20 to 30 local sellers. Families enjoyed a petting zoo, a children’s pet parade, a treasure hunt, and even the chance to dig through a dirt pile for hidden diamonds. A car show and quilt show added to the variety of attractions.
The day also included a vegetable contest put on by the Garden Bag Society, which featured giant zucchinis, tomatoes, and even an award for the oddest-shaped produce. “People brought in their zucchinis and tomatoes and beets, and we got to see what everybody was growing this year,” said Colleen Goertz, past president of the Ag Society and member of the Fall Fling Committee.
The Carnduff Fire Department drew crowds with a Jaws of Life demonstration, along with a chance for kids to smash an old truck with a sledgehammer before firefighters tore it apart. Later in the afternoon, attendees tested their sweet tooth in a pie tasting contest, while food trucks lined Main Street.
This year also marked the debut of a kids rodeo hosted by Dash for Cash, organized by Tori Boyce and Britt Martin, featuring barrel racing and other youth-friendly events. The day wrapped up with a community dance and a fireworks show.
“It was a really good turnout. It was busy all day, something for all ages and everybody in the community to get involved,” Goertz said, noting the energy from morning until evening across downtown and the fairgrounds.
With planning already underway, the Fall Fling is scheduled to return September 12, 2026. “We are looking forward to getting going with the planning for next year already,” Goertz added.
