Estevan residents are invited to connect, have fun and engage with their community this month through events organized by the Estevan Community Wellness Committee.

Co-chair Shelly Veroba shared details about the group’s Community Wellness packages and upcoming events during a recent interview.

The packages are designed to welcome new members, brighten someone’s day or serve as conversation starters. With help from local businesses and committee member Amanda Wanner, the packages are ready and include a City of Estevan facility pass, a 10 per cent off coupon from Blackbeard’s Restaurant, Dairy Queen treats, candies, community resource cards and an invitation to the Community Games Night.

“Our Community Wellness packages are a small gathering of items meant to say ‘hey, we see you,’ whether it’s welcoming someone new or just reaching out,” said Veroba.

One of the highlights this month is the Community Games Night, happening Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Estevan Market Mall food court. Sponsored by Souris Family Pharmacy, the event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and offers board games, refreshments and an opportunity to meet fellow community members. Guests are welcome to bring their own board games or refreshments.

Veroba, who enjoys games like SkyJo and backgammon, emphasized the social benefits of attending. “It’s a great way to get families involved, meet friends and connect with community members. Even if you just want to observe, come and enjoy a cup of coffee. Stay for as long as you like.”

Another upcoming event is the Ripple of Kindness event on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Dennis Moore Park near the water tower. The free event encourages participants to paint rocks, make cards and engage in community-building activities with Estevan Community Wellness team members. It runs from 1 to 3 p.m., and all ages are welcome.
