The Weyburn Humane Society's Annual Garage Sale is being held at Cecelia's Banquet Hall at 122 Fourth Street from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.
Shelter Manager Colleen Morrice said they'll accept donations on Sunday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
"We do have a storage unit that is right full, so we will have something there for everyone," she shared.
"We will also have mini donuts for sale there, and a bake sale happening, and we will have the raffle tickets for the Jeep. They're only $100 each, so what a great chance to win a beautiful vehicle."
As always, patrons pay by donation, with the funds going toward outfitting their new shelter being constructed at 1810 East Avenue.
"We ask for a reasonable donation. Of course, we have our new building going up. I have a three-piece metal sink that I have my eye on right now. So that will be $550. So that's what I'm earmarking to make at this garage sale, so the more money we can make doing all these little fundraisers, the better."
The garage sales are one of the numerous fundraising efforts the WHS holds throughout the year, and when the sales are held at private residences they usually raise about $2,000. When they had been set up at the Weyburn Agricultural Society's Exhibition Hall, they could raise between $10,000 and $16,000. However, those larger sales were reliant on more volunteers.
"So we're really hoping that at Cecilia's we can make a big splash too," noted Morrice. "Cecelia's is a great location. They offered it for free. And this month, too, a dollar from every rice bowl they sell goes to us. So they've been really good."
She said they hold their board meetings once a month on a Wednesday evening at the Travelodge.
"We would gladly accept any board members who want to come on. Of course, all the board members are now getting older. So if we could get some young ones in there, we'd really appreciate that," she explained.
"We have a barbecue coming out for the Soo Line Cruisers on September 20th, so me hauling a barbecue and all the supplies and everything, it gets a little much. So if I had younger people and some men, it would help a lot."
"We would love to see you come out to the garage sale. Of course, we always appreciate everybody's support, and we will gladly serve you up some donuts and help you carry out all your stuff that you happen to buy at the sale," added Morrice.
