A free event geared towards southwest entrepreneurs and small business owners will be hosted by Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan (WESK) this week at a business in downtown Swift Current.

The Rural WESK Connect event is open to everyone, not only women, and is set to take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday evening at Farmer's Daughter Homestead.

Janelle Lansdall, rural ambassador for WESK, shared that registration and opening remarks will kick off the evening, while a panel discussion takes place at 7:00 p.m., and open networking and a chance to mingle begin at 8:00 p.m.

"What we're going to be doing is connecting together and networking," she said. "We're going to do a panel discussion to highlight a couple of the businesses downtown that have interesting experiences, businesses that have been there for quite a while, and one business that's new and changing.

"So just sharing that with other business owners that will be at the event and helping foster networking to meet new people and to help boost the energy of small business activity in Swift Current and the area."

The Rural WESK Connect event will include conversations and advice, in addition to appetizers, door prizes, and beverages.

"These events are a great way to come out, meet some people from the organization, talk to some other business owners that have benefited all that WESK has to offer, and just connect with like-minded people," added Lansdall. "It's always good to connect and maybe come up with some collaborations."

Additionally, the organization is set to hold Rural WESK Connect events with similar themes in Gull Lake on October 22 and in Shaunavon during November, in addition to running a peer mentorship that begins in October.
