The Estevan Early Years Family Resource Centre is heading into the fall with new leadership and a full slate of programs for local families.

Sara Pippus has stepped into the role of Executive Director and says she is thrilled to begin serving the community from a new platform. “It’s exciting. I’m looking forward to serving the community just from a different location. I’m really excited by the center itself. It’s a fabulous location and a fabulous centre,” said Pippus. “I’m learning all of the amazing things that the center does, and I’m just absolutely floored by it.”

With more than 17 years of experience in community engagement, family support, and creative expression, Pippus is eager to bring her vision of capacity building, collaboration, and stronger family support networks to Estevan. Her approach is rooted in listening closely to the voices of families to shape programs that are both sustainable and impactful.

Rochelle Krahn, who also works with the centre, highlighted the wide variety of programming available this September. “We have The Mama Coach, Ashleigh Dzuba, coming in to do a CPR and choking workshop with moms. All of our 6 to 11 programs filled up really quickly, which is awesome. We had Slime Time on the 8th, we have Dreamcatcher making on the 11th, and then butterfly painting. We also have yoga with Syd, Glow Yoga actually, and those all filled up,” she said.

The centre also hosted back-to-school readiness stations, helping young children learn basics like how to pack a backpack and prepare for kindergarten. Later this month, families can expect to see the centre at the Estevan Duck Derby with interactive kids stations.

Pippus encouraged community members to stop by the centre, whether they have children or not. “We are at the west end of the comprehensive high school, and the blue door is the one to look for. Just come check us out. Even if you don’t have kids, come do a walk-through with us so that you can see what the Family Centre is up to in your community.”

The Estevan Early Years Family Resource Centre has been serving local families since 2002, providing free programs such as early learning playgroups, parenting education, family wellness support, and emergency infant supplies. Under Pippus’ leadership, the centre aims to continue growing while ensuring every family feels seen, heard, and supported.
