Southern Plains Co-op is inviting the community to join in for its upcoming Fuel Good Day, happening next Tuesday, September 16. The event allows residents to give back to local organizations simply by fueling up or grabbing a coffee at participating Co-op locations.
Marketing manager Brooke Spagrud explained that this year’s recipients all focus on childcare. In Oxbow, funds will support the Oxbow Childcare Centre. In Carlyle, the Carlyle Cubs Learning Center and Estevan’s Hillcrest Early Learning Center will also benefit. Each organization is looking to enhance outdoor spaces for children, providing safe, fun, and engaging areas for play.
“Fuel Good Day is one of our favorite gas bar-specific promotions,” Spagrud said. “It gives everyone a simple way to contribute to the community. Just by putting a little fuel in your vehicle that day, you’re donating to a local group.”
In addition to fuel purchases, coffee sales are part of the fundraiser. For just a dollar, customers can buy any size coffee, with proceeds going directly to the local recipients. Colouring pages and activities for kids will also be available, showcasing local artwork and giving young participants a chance to see their creations displayed in Co-op locations.
Spagrud said the initiative is part of the Co-op culture, a way for the organization to give back to the communities it serves. “It really hits home when you see all of the kids that have contributed to making this event so successful,” she said.
Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars for September 16 and take part in Fuel Good Day at Southern Plains Co-op locations.
