Estevan’s literary scene will take center stage on September 20th as 17 local authors gather for the Plains of Imagination Book Fair at the Estevan Public Library. The event highlights the growing number of writers in Southeast Saskatchewan and offers the public a chance to connect directly with authors.

Kyle Brokenshire, a member of the Estevan Writers Group, shared excitement for the event. “It’s really a great time to be doing something like this,” Brokenshire said, noting that several books have been released in the past year, with more in the pipeline.

Brokenshire is set to feature his latest novel, The Pennsylvanian, a vampire story with mystery and suspense that he describes as “Dracula by way of John Wick.” Copies will be available for purchase directly from the author during the fair.

The book fair runs from 2 to 5 p.m. and will also feature other local writers, including Lisa McCullough, Jason Weening, and Anna Rose Lawrence. The Estevan Writers Group will have a presence at the event, providing information for aspiring writers interested in workshops, retreats, and critique sessions.

For more information, readers can visit the Estevan Writers Group website at smnwritersgroup.wordpress.com or follow Kyle Brokenshire’s work at brokershirebooks.wordpress.com. The Plains of Imagination Book Fair promises a celebration of the region’s literary talent and a chance to meet the authors behind the stories.
