Turtle Mountain Bible Camp is hosting its fall fundraiser in two weeks, which will serve as an opportunity to share stories from their summer camp season and to raise funds for their capital build project, the construction of a Cabin Pod to accommodate 30 additional beds.
Members of the summer team will be present to recount their experiences and highlight how they witnessed God at work throughout the summer. This event is especially meaningful for those who weren’t able to attend camp, offering a glimpse into the impact and moments that shaped the season.
The Fall Fundraiser will take place on Sunday, September 28th, featuring a soup and bun supper, followed by pie for dessert, and will take place at the camp from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. All funds raised during the event will go toward the construction of a new cabin pod currently underway.
"Our cabin pod capital project is going to be essentially a new cabin facility," explains camp co-director Daniel Zylstra. "It's going to have three separate rooms, all accessible only from the outside. Each room is going to have 5 bunk beds and two queen-sized beds, so we will be able to sleep another 30 campers, which will be awesome!"
Currently, the camp is able to accommodate 513 campers and there is always a waiting list.
"So, we're really excited to get this up so that we can get those kids off the wait lists and into bunks! Each room is also going to have two complete washrooms, a toilet, shower, sink, and the whole building will be completely winterized, so we will be able to use it for our overnight camps in the summer, but also year-round so that we can host more guest groups and hopefully even retreats in a couple years," adds Zylstra.
The total project is expected to cost just over $400,000, and thus far they've already raised close to $195,000.
The excavator has already been clearing away some of the trees to prepare the site, and so certainly by the September 28th Fall Fundraiser they'll be able to show exactly where the new cabin pod is to be built.
