ORIGINAL STORY:
RCMP are providing an update on the shooting this weekend that took the life of a 44-year-old Weyburn woman.
On Friday, Weyburn Police Service members responded to an incident report shortly after 8:00 p.m. near the Richardson Pioneer and Viterra grain terminals. Weyburn RCMP and EMS also responded to the incident, which was later categorized as a "suspicious death". Two females from Weyburn were traveling toward Weyburn on Highway 39 when a bullet pierced their vehicle from behind, killing the passenger. The driver of the SUV was not physically harmed and is not considered a suspect.
Upon further investigation, a white truck appeared to have also been traveling on Highway 39, ahead of the SUV. Police say it was parked alongside Highway 39 around the time of the shooting and may or may not have also been hit by a gunshot. Police are now looking for the driver of this vehicle and say they do not believe the gunshots came from the truck.
The vehicle is a white, four-door crew cab truck that was traveling along Highway 39, northwest of Weyburn, around 8:00 p.m. The RCMP are asking the driver of the truck to call 310-7267 (RCMP).
RCMP are furthering their call for assistance as well. Any members of the public or business owners who have buildings or homes along Highway 39 and Highway 13 are asked to check their video surveillance and house or doorbell camera footage between 7:45 and 8:30 p.m. Friday, September 12th, and report any suspicious people or vehicles.
Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact the RCMP at 310-7267, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or 911 if it is an emergency.
