The Portage Terriers wrapped up their preseason with a 6-1 victory over the visiting Neepawa Titans, who they will open the season against next weekend.

Green Bay, WI product Ryker Thomas notched the game's first goal late in the first period. After making a nice play to hold the puck in the zone, he walked in toward the net, and fired a shot into the top corner. 1-0 Portage after 20 minutes.

The second frame would start fast, as Thomas would take a double-minor for high-sticking, and Neepawa would capitalize.

Portage would get it right back in short order though, as Tyson Pethybridge was the recipient of a perfect pass from Noah Therrien, and tapped home his first of the preseason. 2-1 Portage.

Three and a half minutes later, Dawson Madden would tip home a Daine Dellezay point-shot from the high slot, to extend Portage's lead to 3-1.

Ryker Thomas would add his second of the game on a rebound that sat right in front of the net, making it 4-1 to end the second period.

Trevor Hill extended the lead with a backhand shot that functioned more as a wrap around, sneaking through the Titans' netminder to make it 5-1.

Then Wyatt Dreger would add a powerplay marker near the end of the period to finish the scoring for the night, a 6-1 victory for the Terriers.

Portage will get a week off before their next game action, Saturday, September 20 in Neepawa. The home-opener will be the next night, September 21 with festivities underway at 4 p.m.
