The Weyburn RCMP received a report of a potential impersonation of a police officer on Saturday. According to a release issued by the RCMP, investigation revealed someone was driving on a grid road near Midale, when a vehicle came up behind them displaying flashing blue and red emergency lights. Both vehicles slowed before the suspect vehicle fled.

The vehicle is described as a granite grey heavy-duty truck with a flat deck and heavy-duty rack, believed to be a 2000s-model Chevrolet. The blue and red lights were mounted in front of the windshield near the rear-view mirror.

The investigation is ongoing. The RCMP advises anyone who believes they are being followed by an imitation police vehicle to contact the RCMP immediately. Anyone with information related to this matter is asked to contact 310-RCMP. Always call 9-1-1 in an emergency.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes remains in the Weyburn area investigating the suspicious death that occurred on September 12. Investigators are aware of the potential police impersonation incident, however there is no known link to the suspicious death at this time.
