Drivers fueling up at Prairie Sky Co-op locations today will also be supporting local community groups.

Today, Tuesday, September 16th, is the annual Fuel Good Day. For every litre of fuel purchased at Prairie Sky Co-op gas bars in Weyburn, Lang, Milestone, or Beaubier, the co-operative will donate 10 cents to three area charities.

"When you fill up, you're giving a donation without spending anything," said Kevin Arthur, general manager of Prairie Sky Co-op.

This year's beneficiaries are spread across the communities Prairie Sky Co-op serves. In Weyburn, the funds will go to the Young Fellows Park, located where the former Haig School was. In Milestone, the donation will support the school's student council, and in the Beaubier area, the Prairie Hills First Responders will benefit.

Arthur explained that the total amount raised is a collective effort.

"We take all the litres that our customers buy from us in all our locations and then share that with the three charities," he said.

The event typically sees strong community support, with fuel sales higher than on a normal Tuesday. Arthur encourages residents to take part, even if their tank isn't empty.
