The Airdrie Public Library (APL) is currently holding a garage sale to sell items in the old library that won't be making the move to the new one.
The garage sale started yesterday and runs until the end of the day Friday. Those interested can visit the library from 3- 6 p.m.
Jamie Moorhouse, the donor engagement champion for the APL, explained that this is a great opportunity for anybody who wants a piece of the old library.
"Everything is by donation, and it's cash and carry. If you find something you like, please let us know how much you'd like to give us. We'll take your money, and then you take your items."
The grand opening of the new library in Inspire will take place on October 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Even though the grand opening is taking place in October, the new library will be open to the public next week.
"The morning of September 24 (9 a.m. is our final 1000 book parade, where the school kids are taking the last 1000 books from the old library, bringing them to the new library."
He then concluded by saying that at 1 p.m. the same day (September 24), the new library will officially open.
September 23 is the last day the old library will be open to the public.
A time capsule installation will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 11 to 11:45 a.m. The city says memorabilia will be sealed for future residents to open in 2045.
