A longtime member of the Eckville Fire Department is retiring after 13 years of service.

The department is recognizing Deputy Chief Mike Bender, who is concluding his career of service and dedication to the community.

Bender has been with the department for more than 13 years, serving with professionalism, leadership and a strong commitment to public safety. Over his career, he responded to countless emergencies, mentored firefighters, strengthened the department and earned the respect of colleagues and residents.

The department expressed gratitude to Bender and his family for the sacrifices made in support of his role, saying his impact will continue to be felt for years to come.

Bender said he is excited to see the changes ahead and has complete faith in the department’s leadership to continue serving the community.

The department thanked Bender for his service and wished him well in retirement.
