With harvest season underway across Central Alberta, producers are being offered a chance to dig deeper into hay storage, feed analysis, and sustainable practices through an event hosted by the Central Alberta Forage and Livestock Association (CAFLA).

Titled “Hay! Let’s Talk Storage,” the afternoon workshop runs this Friday, (September 19) from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Hillside Community Centre near Wetaskiwin.

The program includes lunch and features presentations from industry experts as well as insights from local producers.

Attendees will hear from John Bland of Barbeejay Supplies on hay storage solutions and Abby Redman of Blue Rock Animal Nutrition on feed analysis.

Local producer Alana Schamber will also share her experience improving sustainability and feed quality on her own farm.

The day concludes with an on-farm visit to Tin Forest Farm, where producers can see firsthand how Nature’s Net Wrap, a biodegradable net wrap product, performs in real-world conditions as part of CAFLA’s latest on-farm trial.

“This is a great opportunity for farmers to learn practical strategies, connect with neighbours, and explore innovative tools that can make a real difference on their operations,” said CAFLA organizers.

The event is free to attend, but registration is required by calling 403-844-2645.
