The Fifth Annual Bob Pollock Memorial Lobster Pot Golf Tournament was another huge success.

One-hundred and forty one golfers joined the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation on August 22 at the Elmwood Golf Club to raise some funds. Alongside playing 18 holes of par three golf, participants enjoyed beverages, a silent auction, raffle prizes, a 50/50 ticket draw, and of course, a lobster dinner.

In total, the event brought in $11,864. Since its inception in 2021, the foundation has raised over $65,000 for the Linda Hanlon Chemotherapy Unit with the Bob Pollock Memorial Lobster Pot Golf Tournament.

Kris Johnson, executive director for the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation, says that Pollock's son, Shane Pollock, is a tremendous golfer.

"He comes every year with his crew from Weyburn," said Johnson.  "And of course, Sharon Pollock, Bob's wife, always comes and attends supper."

Bob Pollock was the club pro at Elmwood Golf Club. His lasting impact on the members at Elmwood is represented in how many of them come each year to play a round in his memory.

"Everybody just loves to be able to support (his memory)," said Johnson. "It's in honour of his memory that we are able to contribute and give back to the cancer unit."

If anyone is interested in signing up their team for next year, they can contact the DNIF for more information.
