Sylvan Lake residents can expect detours and construction noise this fall as fibre-optic infrastructure is installed throughout the community.

TELUS and F3 Networks will begin work this month to expand high-speed internet service in Sylvan Lake.

The project will be carried out zone by zone, with each section taking about two months to complete, weather permitting. Work includes directional drilling and hydrovaccing on town boulevards and utility right-of-ways.

Residents affected by the construction will be notified by F3 Networks before work begins. During the installation period, people may see sidewalk detours, temporary barricades, construction noise and reseeding delays.

Homeowners may be asked if they want to extend fibre-optic service directly to houses. This is optional and requires homeowner permission, as shallow trenching on private property would be needed.

Questions or concerns about the project should be directed to F3 Networks by emailing customerservice@F3Networks.ca or calling 778-200-9100.

A video explaining the work is available online at https://youtu.be/UehGAe5iB6w.
