Doris also leaves behind her brother Willard (Sandra) Allan brother-in-law Willard, sister-in-la Teresa and so many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Doris was born in Riding Mountain, MB on April 28th, 1930. Her family eventually moved to Kenora where she met the lover of her life and best friend Arnold.
Mom and dad tied the knot on April 20, 1949. From then on Mom was on the go. She got involved in anything and everything; from driving, not only the children but anyone who needed a ride, volunteering for so many events and places like Birchwood Terrace. She loved teaching and dancing with all her clogging kids. She also was very involved with the junior and senior choirs.
Mom loved living at Black Surgeon where she always entertaining friends and family. This is where mom, at 60 years taught herself to play guitar. She loved when friends and family gathered for a sing-a-long. When she wasn’t singing she was crafting, baking, gardening, going for boat rides and one of her and Arnold’s favourite things was to dance. They would glide so gracefully along the dance floor. In our hearts we know Mom & Dad are together dancing to one of Mom’s favourite song:
Could I have this dance For the rest of my life Would you be my partner every night When we’re together it feels so right Could I have this dance For the rest of my life.
The family would like to extend our appreciation to the staff at Pinecrest for the wonderful care Doris received.
A Celebration of life for Doris and Arnold will be held at a later date.
