City Hall is one of the various closures across the City of Kenora today, due to weather conditions.

A major Colorado low storm system is continuing to make its way through the region today, and more municipal services and roadways have been affected.

Environment Canada reports that the Kenora area received about 15 centimetres of snow overnight, and another two to five centimetres is expected to fall again tonight.

The City of Kenora says the following services or locations have been closed:

- City Hall is closed today and phones will not be answered. Residents can leave a message at 807-467-2000 and staff will log your call and respond as soon as possible, or email service@kenora.ca. City Hall reopens on Tuesday.

- The Aquatic Centre will be closing at 3 p.m. today and evening swim lessons have been rescheduled to May 3.

- City Transit has shutdown today, and the city reminds residents that there is no service on Good Friday.

- Curbside recycling and garbage pick-ups have been cancelled today, but the Transfer Station remains open until 5:30 p.m.

- The Kenora Public Library has closed today due to the weather.

- The Muse – Lake of the Woods Museum and Douglas Family Art Centre have also closed, and plan to reopen Saturday.

- The City of Kenora's Operations Building will be closed Thursday and will reopen on Tuesday to the public. Phone lines are being monitored at 807-467-2097 to address concerns.

As well, the City of Kenora’s Significant Weather Event continues today, and drivers are asked to avoid local roadways if you don’t have to travel. Winter maintenance service delays are expected, and residents are asked to be cautious on all roads and sidewalks.

The Ministry of Transportation closed down Highway 17 between the Manitoba border and Shabaqua Corners earlier this morning due to the conditions, as well as Highway 502 and Highway 11 from Fort Frances to Shabaqua.

Students with the Keewatin-Patricia and Kenora Catholic school boards have an extra-long Easter weekend as all schools are closed today, and plan to reopen by Tuesday.

Residents are reminded to move their vehicles to not get blocked in when snowplows pass.
