In light of a storm system moving into northwestern Ontario, Environment Canada has issued a Rainfall Warning for the Kenora, Dryden, and Sioux Lookout areas.

Kenora and Dryden could expect around 30 to 50 mm of rain starting Friday afternoon (April 22, 2022) through into Sunday (April 24, 2022). The agency is calling for Sioux Lookout to get about 25 to 40 mm of rain starting Friday night into Sunday afternoon.

A Colorado Low is expected to bring a wintry mix of precipitation and then significant rainfall for portions of northwestern Ontario beginning Friday. Precipitation may begin as snow, ice pellets, or freezing rain before changing to rain this afternoon or evening.

For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources, and Forestry office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Don't approach washouts near rivers, creeks, and culverts.
