More rain is on the way. In total, between 20 to 30 mm of rain is expected to fall by Monday evening.
Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Kenora and the surrounding area.
The weather agency says 20 to 30 mm of rain will fall on Monday with higher rainfall amounts possible with localized thunderstorms.
The ground, already saturated, has little ability to absorb further rainfall.
Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. Keep children and pets away from creeks and river banks.
Earlier in the week, the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources, and Forestry issued a Watershed Conditions Statement - Flood Outlook that will be in effect until May 13, 2022.
The ministry advise that residents in the Kenora, Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls, Dryden, Oxdrift, and surrounding areas exercise extreme caution around less travelled roads, bridges, water-crossings, lakes, and rivers. They say that water levels in these areas and in portions of the district are extremely high.
