A state of emergency has been issued in the Municipality of Red Lake.
The declaration was made my mayor and council earlier today (Tuesday, May 10, 2022) due to flooding across the municipality.
"The purpose of this emergency declaration is to create public awareness and to ensure these events are acknowledged and recognized by the provincial and/or federal levels of government. In addition, this declaration may provide funding recovery opportunities for costs incurred by the Municipality as a result of any damage caused by these events," said the municipality in a prepared release Tuesday afternoon.
Over the weekend, Highway 105 was closed following a washout south of Red Lake. Since then, Highway 105 reopened and closed several times.
As of publishing, Highway 105 is closed in two places. Highway 105 is closed from Highway 17 to Highway 609 due to water over the road. Highway 105 is closed at Hopperstad Road, approximately 20 km south of Red Lake, due to a washout.
