The Dryden Regional Health Centre has declared its first COVID-19 outbreak, after ‘several’ patients tested positive within the facility.
In response, staff say they will be ramping up infection control protocols as outlined in their Pandemic Plan, to help protect patients, families and staff. They will also be working with the Northwestern Health Unit to determine the cause of the outbreak, and to minimize risks to patients and staff.
While the investigation is ongoing, all visitation has been suspended for the next 24 hours. The hospital says further directions will be provided on May 11. No service disruptions are expected as a result of the outbreak.
“We are taking every precaution to contain the situation and prioritize the health and safety of our patients and staff,” says Doreen Armstrong-Ross, President and CEO. “DRHC continues to be a safe place for patients in the community to receive the care they need.”
Outpatient treatments and programs will continue as scheduled, but if appointments must be rescheduled, you will be contacted directly by DRHC staff.
