Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, James (Jim) Donald Quinton peacefully passed away on May 1, 2022 holding his sweethearts hand. By his side was his loving wife of almost 70 years and three daughters. Preceded by his son, James Charlie Quinton, by his mother (Fidella), father (Charles), and brother (Gordon) Quinton. Survived by his wife, Shirley (Norlen) Quinton, daughters Charlotte Quinton, (Patrick Soboleski), Katherine Quinton, Janie Tanner (Quinton), Gerry Tanner. Along with his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brothers, Bob and Stanley Quinton and their families. Sister, Diane Bradley, (Quinton) and her family. Jim retired from the local Kenora Paper Mill after 41 years of loyal service. Jim never really retired. He became a full time country strong farmer on the Quinton farm, with a herd of cattle and many other animals. Jim loved to fish, hunt, garden, cut wood, boating, camping and making trails through the woods. Farming had its perks with his John Deere tractors, bulldozers, four wheelers, trailers, boats and tools galore. A farmer’s dream included a personal saw mill and hundreds of trips to Princess Auto in Winnipeg. It did not matter where Jim was or who he was talking to, he loved entertaining people with stories about work experiences and family life. Jim enjoyed teasing his family and friends as much as possible. With his great sense of humor and infectious laughter generally he would have us in stitches. Jim might have been the original recycler as he would reclaim and reuse discarded items. Jim taught his children the importance and value of hard work, to be independent thinkers, self-sufficient and to be resilient. Jim‘s greatest quality was his devotion to his wife and family along with his love of animals and nature. He will be truly missed. A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held during the summer. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Alzheimer Society of Kenora, Ontario. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.brownfuneralhomekenora.com for the Quinton family.
