Our beloved father, papa and husband, surrounded by his wife and children, began his spirit journey morning of May 19, 2022. 

Larry is survived by his wife, Darlene Henry, along with his children and grandchildren: Larry, Damon, Taylor, Riley; Tabetha, Kayleen, Aishah and Charlie Jr; Rachel, Peterson, Selena, Tylis and Chenine; Reno (Shalon), Kaitlyn, Kacie, Naya, Nimkii and Nahanii; Nigel (Brenda), Tyrese, Quilyn, Lakeisha, Niibin and Miigwan; Samantha, Austin and Keenan; Ian (Kayla), Gavin, Autumn, Kaetyn, Ro Shen; Deana, Ryland (Kylie), Kobi, Justice, Jerome, Kali and Chevyonne; Jewel (Emily); Myles (Shelley) Patrick and Delilah. His brother Clarence (Cecilia) and Sisters Judy (Scott); Doris Wiley. He later adopted as his own sons Jason Sanden, Charles Patenaude and daughter Helen Greene. His Aunties, Florence Bird, Margret Angeconeb, Brenda Bready and Uncle Eddy Bird. Larry had many special friends he called his brothers Ronnie P. McDonald, Adolphus Cameron (Cindy), Larry Morrison (Amanda), Gaspere Bossio, Reg Wesley, Ed Sawdosky, Dennis Copenace and many more. Larry was an uncle to many nieces and nephews and a impressive long line of relatives across Turtle Island. 

Predeceased by his Father Clarence Henry, Mother Ruth Henry (nee Beardy), Brother Patrick Henry, Sister Delorraine Henry-McDonald, Maternal Grandparents Mike and Mary Beardy, Paternal Grandparents Guy Henry and Catherine Hunter. Grandsons, Milo, Jackson, Tristen, Granddaughters Lilly, and Naabenoonkwe. 

Our beloved father was born in Kenora, Ontario. In his early years, resided in Wabaseemoong Independent Nations then later moved to Niisaachewan Anishinaabe Nation with his family. He took pride in the traditional way of life, by living off the land and sharing his knowledge and teachings. He enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing with his wife, sons and friends. Larry always looked forward to the season’s last fishing derby-The One Man Lake Walleye Classic. He loved dancing at powwows and was a renowned MC at traditional gatherings, ceremonies and events. While spending time with family he loved to laugh and enjoyed joking around.

He was a former correctional worker then became a police officer with Ontario First Nations Policing, former Chief for Niisaachewan Anishinaabe Nation, Mental Health & Addictions Worker with Kenora Chiefs Advisory and Indian Residential School Support Worker with Grand Council Treaty #3. He was a strong advocate of Truth & Reconciliation Commission of Canada for Anishinaabeg nationwide. Larry passionately stood for Basic Human Rights and Awareness of Indian Residential School survivors and wholeheartedly supported Intergenerational survivors and reunification of families affected by (IRS).

The family of Larry wishes to thank the nurses, doctors and a special thanks to palliative care nurse Charlene at Lake of the Woods Hospital for their compassionate care during his final days. The family says Chi-Miigwetch to his close friends who came to visit and sat by his side. 

Traditional wake will start Sunday, May 22, 2022 and Spirit Journey Ceremony of Larry’s will be held 10:00 a.m. May 25, 2022 at the Niisaachewan Community Centre, followed with a traditional feast.
