It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our dear aunt Valerie Johnson on May 15, 2022 in Mesa Arizona at the age of 71.

 

Valerie was born in Dryden Ontario to Daisy and Harold Barr, who at the time were the owners of Cedar Point Muskie camp in Waldof.

 

Valerie attended elementary school and 3 years at Dryden High School. The family moved back to Amboy, Minnesota where Valerie graduated grade 12. Valerie worked for American Airlines for 35 years and made so many friends along the way, her personality and joy for life attracted so many people to her, she was truly an amazing person.

 

Valerie is survived by her husband of 50 years Steve Johnson, their feline children Minnie and Mickey. Sister in law Leona Barr of Thunder Bay. Valerie is also survived by her special cousin Jim Barr of Tacoma, Washington, nephew Rod Barr (Patty), niece Debbie Kohut (Gary), niece Credie Cooper (Wayne), nephew Wayne Barr (Patty), niece Susan Barr, niece Karen Wood (Tony), niece Candace Wetendorf (Jeff), nephew Jim Barr (Leanne) and niece Pam Martin (John). She is also survived by many great and great great nieces and nephews.

 

Valerie was predeceased by her parents Daisy and Harold Barr, brothers David, Gerald and Gary Barr, nephew David Barr and great nephew Dustin Barr.

 

A special thank you to her wonderful friends Wendy and Denny Anderson, Paula Fischer and Jeannie Robbestad who helped us while we were in Arizona, you were so kind to us, you made us feel like you were our family, and you were there with us doing everything possible for our aunt.

 

Thank you to the staff at Sky Vista that took care of Val, and especially Stephen, amazing young nurse.
