Carol Anderson (nee Finch)

In loving memory of Carol Anderson, nee Finch:  born May 7, 1951, who left us July 19, 2021 after a short illness and hospital stay.
 
She left behind her loving husband, Rolf; her son, Michael; daughter-in-law, Sue; her mother, Alice Finch; her sisters, brothers and their spouses, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  She was predeceased by her brother, Douglas; her second husband Gary; her father, Jack Finch and her grandparents.
 
Carol-Ann Natalie Alice.  We always teased her that Mom used all the cute names on her.  Carol grew up in Vermilion Bay and attended Dryden High School.  She married young and had her only child, Michael, returning to Vermilion Bay with Michael when her first marriage ended.  She worked at the “Welcome Inn” as a waitress and worked part-time at the LCBO to make ends meet and buy a home for her and Michael.
 
Her part-time job at the LCBO became a full-time career.  It eventually led to a move to Kenora, where she met her love, Rolf.  It took some “sweet talking”, but Rolf finally convinced  her to get married again, and in 1995 they were married in a beautiful celebration at their cabin on Lake of the Woods.
 
Carol retired from the LCBO as assistant manager.  She had always been involved in volunteering but her commitment of time and enthusiasm increased after her retirement.  She was a member of the Crown Jewels of Kenora and had a lot of fun with the ladies.  She was a member of the Lions Clubs in Kenora and Vermilion Bay, where she received many awards for her hard work.  She was a volunteer with the Longbow Lake Fire Department, assisting them with their huge garage sale every year since her retirement.  She spent many hours sorting and pricing items and manning the Christmas table at the sale.  She was also a  member of the Pinecrest Auxiliary and spent a lot of time planning birthday celebrations and other fun activities for the residents.  There was nothing she like better than making people smile.
 
Everyone who knew her also knew the baking she loved to do to give everyone a treat, whether it was butter tarts, truffles, buns or loaves.  The family fur babies will miss the bone-shaped treats she made for them as Christmas presents from Spot.  She loved her family and friends and spending time with them, especially at their cabin on Lake of the Woods.  She loved giving presents and all her nieces will remember the outfits they would get from Aunty Carol, always with matching socks.
 
In short, she will be greatly missed by many people.  Until we see you again, your smile will stay in our hearts.
 
The family extends their thanks to the doctors and nurses who provided such compassionate care to Carol in her last days on 2 East at Lake of the Woods Hospital.  

A Celebration of Carol’s life will be held at the Lions Hall in Vermilion Bay on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 1:00 pm.  The family has requested that your attire be vibrant and colorful in memory of Carol.
