Tyrese Belmore
September 24, 2001 – June 1, 2022
With the sad news of Tyrese Belmore a first nation member of Saugeen, ON at the age of 20 years old has passed away on June 1, 2022 on the way to Thunder Bay Regional Hospital.
Tyrese will be remembered by all his ndaweemaa Tyson Belmore, Tyler Belmore, Tyrah Belmore, Keith Lawson, Anthony Belmore, Dawnis Belmore, Tabatha Belmore, Chase Belmore, and Kenzie Whyte. Along with his two fathers Claude Whyte and Keith Lawson, as well the rest of his beshwaji and kin.
Tyese was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario on September 24, 2001, but that was not truly his home from what I remembered. From the innocent part of his life even though he didn't see it at the time it's where he was most happy alongside his brothers. We reminisce over and over again of those times and most importantly we reminded ourselves of Saugeen where we were the most free, but where we also experienced the most pain. That was a good time period for toughening before the burden of adulthood and where he just started to develop more of his strengths that being true to himself. His friends and brothers he loved in Thunder Bay for reasons I can only imagine being the brotherhood he developed. With his friends that would teach him personal quality defining traits that kept him happy, but most importantly it was about the connections he made that mattered more than material possessions. Tyrese like the most of us was a wanderer finding enjoyment where he could find or create it with and for others. However, what impeded this process of creation was the greed of money, although it's the main source of all our happiness we let it control too much of our lives. One day I hope we can get past our greed of money and change it to a greed of the betterment for ourselves and one another but mainly for our beliefs and preservation of culture. I strongly believe that's what will help us begin to heal instead of continuing to decay one after another. I hope we can be more like Tyrese in his forgiving aspect, but also remembering the way he did which would be the quote, "forgive but never forget." I will miss the way we communicated with each other which was probably similar to how he communicated with all of you. Tyrese loved to chirp away when you messed up and would occasionally remind you of it because he was accepting of the same humour he delivered to you. Tyrese believed that's the best way to get over disputes until they eventually fade away with time. Then, he would bring it up again just as a sucker punch of emotions. So may Tyrese continue to develop his rhymes and jokes. Being free of the burden of time and greed in the great plains where his nimama and kookum can listen to him practice all day and sing us the perfect lyrical rap song where we all will eventually meet him.
Funeral Services for Tyrese Belmore will be taking place in Kenora, ON. The viewing will be taking place at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on June 15, 2022 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. The service will take place at Anicinabe Park at 1:00pm with burial taking place at Lake of the Woods Cemetery. Following the burial the celebration of life will be held at Anicinabe Park at 4:30pm.
