The Weyburn Beavers snapped a six-game losing streak Sunday night, as they held on to beat the Regina Red Sox 4-3.

The Beavers were helped by a strong performance on the mound from Jace Wessels. The pitcher from Clarkston, Washington went seven innings, striking out six, and allowing three runs on eight hits. From there, Anthony Portcellato and Matthew Armendariz took over for the eighth inning. They would keep the Red Sox off the board.

After that, David Dawson came in to shut down Regina’s bats in the ninth inning, earning his second save of the season.

All of the runs for the Beavers came in the third inning.

It started out when Will Baker made it on base after an error by the first baseman. Then, a double to center by Caelen Dalman would score Baker. Nolan Machibroda would come to the plate with two out in the hitting, and hit a triple, allowing Dalman to score. Machibroda would cross the plate after a single by Koby Kropf, and a double from Blaine French would bring in Kropf to put Weyburn up.

The Beavers will now get two days off before they return to action Wednesday. They head to Regina for another match-up against the Red Sox, before returning to Tom Laing Park Friday for a game against Regina.
