Gus Chicago
April 7, 1962 – June 16, 2022

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gus Chicago in the comfort of his home on Thursday, June 16, 2022.

He was predeceased by his parents William Savoyard and Pearl Scott, partner Samantha Scott, brothers Norman and Willie, sisters Bernice, Dolores, Doris and Georgina, his nephews Derek C., Jamie S., Ben A., great nieces Gisele and Eden C., great nephew Nicolas, his aunties Daisy, Cecilia, Theresa, Annie, Marjorie, uncles Pete, Tony, John S., Dave, Charlie, Raymond, cousins Claudette, Matilda, Sandra, Vicky, Madeline, Mary, Alice, Irene, Alexes, Rodrick, Steven, Bessie, Lorna and Martha, as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

He is survived by life-long friend Florence Ningewance and her children Ernest, Brenda, grandchildren Shay, Hope and Bryce.  He will be missed by his sisters Margaret, Virginia, Theresa (Sea), Val Rheault, brother Jim (Kim), nephews Robert, Mike, James, Todd, Joshua, Macy, Marty, Ben, Donny, Bobby, Chris and Jason, nieces Colleen, Bernice, Sophie, Dorothy, Mandy, Belinda, Roxanne and Stacey.  He will also be missed by aunties Evelyn (Gary) and Marlene (Dean), uncle Norman B, cousins Norman S., Elmer S., John P., Gus P., Tony M., Rhea M., Marilyn, Marvin, Gerry, Kelvin, Kim, Gwen, Denise, Randall, Vanessa, Matt and Dave, as well as many great nieces, nephews and other family members too numerous to mention. 

Gus was born in Kenora and lived in Minaki most of his life.  He was a very loving, caring person to everyone he met, he had a great sense of humour that everyone loved.  He loved the outdoors, taking pictures of animals and outdoor scenery, also walking around in the bush, taking his family to stores and garage sales.  He worked at Val’s Camp most of his life and still did work off and on at his sister Val’s place whenever he was needed.  He never refused any job that was offered to him.  He also loved being with his family and friends.  He will surely be missed by the whole family and friends that he met through his life.

Pallbearers will be Marty, Jason, Donny, Ben, Mike and Bobby.

A wake service for Gus will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Rat Portage Community Hall, Rat Portage, Ontario. A funeral service will occur Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 11:00 am at Rat Portage Community Hall with interment to follow at Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
