The Weyburn Beavers returned to the diamond Wednesday night, looking to pick up another win over the Red Sox in Regina. The Red Sox, though, would be the ones to come out on top, picking up a 7-1 victory.
Regina pitcher John Henry would hold the bats of the Beavers at bay, allowing just four hits and one run in nine innings, while striking out eight. The lone run for the Beavers came in the top of the ninth inning when Travis Moore hit a single to left field that brought Nolan Machibroda across the plate.
Weyburn’s starting pitcher, Jared Miller, went five innings and was tagged with the loss. He struck out five batters while allowing four runs, two earned, on five hits. Ryan Juntt came on in relief, and went two innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on six hits while striking out three.
The game was closed out by Jared Eifler, who struck out one and allowed two hits in one inning of work.
The Beavers will look to bounce back Friday night when they entertain the Red Sox at Tom Laing Park.
