Ross William Booth
February 14, 1931 - July 2, 2022

With great sadness, the family of Ross Booth announce that he passed away peacefully on July 2, 2022 at Pinecrest Long Term Care Home.

Ross was born on February 14, 1931 to William & Christina (Morrish) in Westhill (Toronto) Ontario. His love of the outdoors was influenced by the time he spent as a child with both sets of grandparents at their family cottages. During University he spent his summers in NWO working as a summer student in the Forest Industry. After graduating from the U of T Forestry Program in 1953, he moved permanently to Kenora and married, the love of his life, Verna (Pearson). Together they raised their family of five children, providing them with love, support, and many experiences. The next generations of children enjoyed many happy times with Grandpa/Papa and Nanny.

Always active, Ross built the family camp on Pickerel Lake and spent most of his free time there working on projects until he could no longer do so. He enjoyed music, dancing, gardening, fishing, and hunting and shared those passions with his children and others. He was competitive at all sports he participated in, hockey, football, curling, track and field (pole vaulting).

Ross was a caring, compassionate, kind, fair man. He shared his gifts with others, coaching hockey for many years, even before his own children were old enough to play, was a youth leader and later an elder of the First Presbyterian Church. He belonged to Masonic Organizations across the country and held leadership roles in many of these. Ross and Verna hosted many Masonic and Shrine parties out at Pickerel Lake. He was also very involved in organizing the roads board and other initiatives with the camp owners’ association. As a Forester, environmental issues were important to him.

Ross was predeceased by his parents, William and Christina Booth, his young brother, Jack, his son Ross Jr., wife, Verna, sister-in-law, Lynn Pearson and brother-in-law, Gordon Pearson.

Left to mourn and cherish his memory are his children, Lynn (Kim), Nancy (Mark), Bryan (Lydia), Jeff (Hali) and daughter-in-law, Marilyn, grandchildren, Tasha (Jason), Ange (Tyler), Amber (Chris), Bryanna (Chris), Kiera (Royce), Falynn (Taylor), Tyler, and Annika, great-grandchildren, Brook-Lynn (Davis), Kennedy, Kash, Sunna, Boden, Brix, Eric, and Lily, brother Bob (Sandra), brother-in-laws Jack (Pat) and Bryan (Karen), sister-in-law, Valerie and numerous nephews and nieces and their families.

The family would like to thank the many people and organizations that provided support in his final years, making it possible to stay at home and with family for as long as he could, Patterson Medical Centre, Dr. Workman and Dr. Grek, Dr. Chapman and staff at Kenora Optometry Clinic, Steve and the Patterson Medical Clinic Pharmacy staff, Home and Community Care Support Services, Alexis, and Shawna, Paramed, Emerson, Cindy, Barb, Chantelle, Michaila, Christina, and Susan, Paramedic Program, Dave, Rachel, Jeff, Darren and others and Maddie and Starr.  And finally we extend our appreciation to the caring staff at Pinecrest who supported Ross over the last few weeks.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Tuesday, July 12th, 2022 at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow at the Minis Hall at Super 8.
