The Town of Altona's quest to have its flag named Canada's Best Municipal Flag has come to an end.

After making it to the semi-finals of the national contest hosted by Municipal World, the local banner was unable to push past the flag of Saint-Maxime-du-Mont-Louis, Quebec into the finals.

"Of all sixty-four municipal flags across the country, including Vancouver and Halifax whom we defeated earlier on...we will not make it to the finals but we're happy with finishing in the top four," said Mayor Al Friesen. "We want to thank Municipal World for tapping us on the shoulder and for thinking our flag was something note-worthy,"

The final bracket of the competition has the flags of Saint-Maxime-du-Mont-Louis, Quebec and Abbotsford, B.C. to be named Canada's Best Municipal Flag.
