A rough night for the Weyburn Beavers as they continued their Alberta road swing Wednesday. The Beavers would give up six runs in the eighth inning, falling 13-3 to the Okotoks Dawgs. The loss is the seventh in a row for the Beavers, who are now 7-22 on the season and are four games out of a playoff spot at the halfway point of the season.
Starting pitcher Josh Wintroub had a rare off day, allowing seven runs on twelve hits in seven innings of work. He struck out five batters and walked two. Kyle Baumgart, making his first appearance in relief for the Beavers, would go for just 2/3 of an inning, allowing six runs, two earned, on four hits. He also walked three batters.
Anthony Porcellato finished the game on the mound, getting the final out of the night.
At the plate, Nolan Machibroda would hit a double, his thirteenth of the year, as he extended his hitting streak to four games. He has only been held hitless once in the past ten games.
Travis Moore hit a home run for the Beavers, his first of the season.
The Beavers will continue the trip Thursday night with another game in Okotoks, before heading to Lethbridge for a pair of games. The Beavers will be back home on Tuesday when they entertain the Regina Red Sox.
