Officers with the Sioux Lookout OPP have taken two individuals into custody after two life-threatening assaults in the Queen Street area over the weekend.

The Sioux Lookout OPP says on Sunday at 7 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a weapon in the area of Queen Street and Fifth Avenue North.

Officers found one individual in medical distress at this location, and a second individual was found with life-threatening injuries was located nearby.

As a result of the investigation, 26-year-old Terralene Matthews of Sioux Lookout has been charged with:

- Aggravated assault,
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the District Bail Court in Kenora today.

As well, 31-year-old Rory Keesickquayash of Cat Lake First Nation has been arrested and charged with:

- Aggravated assault,

The accused has been released on an Undertaking, and is set to appear in courts in Sioux Lookout on September 6.

The OPP say there are no additional concerns for public safety at this time, and anyone with any information on the incident is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
