Dryden’s Agri-Tech North is now a Top 5 Finalist in the Northern Ontario Innovation Challenge.

The Northern Ontario Innovation Challenge, hosted by BioEnterprise, challenges northern Ontario-based food and agricultural businesses to pitch their business with innovative technologies to win $5,000 cash, and helps participants position themselves for larger commercial or global opportunities.

Agri-Tech North, owned by Drydenite Benjamin Feagin Jr, is the first wholesale year-round produce producer in northwestern Ontario. They use a vertical drip hydroponic system to grow their product in water as opposed to soil, with a high yield of produce grown each week.

The Demo Day event is set for September 16, where a panel of industry experts will evaluate the pitches and determine the final awards, as well as the grand-prize winner of $5,000.

Agri-Tech North says its mission is to reduce food costs for northern, Indigenous communities by 25 per cent and increase access to fresh produce year-round in communities across the region.
