Two Kenora residents have taken the clippers to their heads to raise funds and awareness for mental health.
Meyers Norris Penny employees Caleigh Belair and Jenna Wiebe started off their August long weekend by doing the selfless act as they went through with their promise to shave their heads if they reached their goal.
"I've always thought 'What can I do for other people and how can I raise money?'. Mental health care & awareness has always been important to me, so I decided help raise money for the Canadian Mental Health Association, Kenora branch, who have been prominent in my own mental health journey," says Belair.
The initial goal of the campaign was $500.00 and at the time of getting their heads shaved on Friday, the total reached over $4000.00.
"I got the backbone to go ahead with it and I'm totally blown away by the support of the community. Thank you!" she adds.
Belair admits that she could not have done this alone and is appreciative that her coworker joined her in the initiative.
"Jenna has definitely been wonderful through this. I don't think I could have gone ahead with it myself. So it was great to have support from her"
Donations are still being accepted for another week, which will go straight to CMHA Kenora.
