It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Adriana Schulz on June 11, 2022, at Pinecrest Home for the Aged in Kenora Ontario, in her 75th year. Adriana was born on September 30th, 1947, in Woerden, Netherlands. 

She is survived by Gerald, her husband of 44 years, by her daughters Kristin (Alan Kilian) and Korin (Karl Dankl), by her grandchildren Brian, Brett, Emily, Kyra, Katie and Will, and by great-grandson Blake. She is also survived by sisters Bernica and Annika, and by nephews Christian and Patrick.

Adriana and family arrived in Halifax at Pier 21 in 1953, then traveled to Winnipeg, Manitoba to start a new life. She graduated from Glenlawn Collegiate in 1965, went on to University of Manitoba, and graduated with a Teaching Degree in 1974. Her first teaching position was at Father Moss School in Sioux Narrows. She then taught in Whitefish Bay School for nine years when Father Moss School was closed. Later, she took a position at Grade School in Nestor Falls, Ontario in 1984. She transferred to Emo, Ontario to teach grades 4 to 6, where she would drive back to Sioux Narrows every weekend. She retired in 2004, then worked with Gerald at their Bait and Tackle Shop in Sioux Narrows, until they sold the business in 2013. 

Adriana and Gerald were married in July 1978, and home was Sioux Narrows from then on. Starting in 2004, they spent their winters in Arizona.

A celebration of Adriana’s Life will be held on August 14th, 2022 at 1 PM at Lake of the Woods Chapel, with a reception to follow at Sioux Narrows Community Hall.
