It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Douglas Kenneth Scott on August 1, 2022 at the age of 70 years.
Born and raised in Keewatin, ON, Doug, or ‘Scotty’, was a proud and devoted family man with a quiet sense of humour. He was also a hard-working and well-respected expert journeyman with 4 different trades. Never one to sit still, he continued to share his knowledge & expertise in his later years and until the time he left this life.
A natural at most anything he did, Doug enjoyed playing many different sports (hockey, softball, curling and golf) as well as camping, fishing & boating on the LOTW and other lakes in Northwestern Ontario. Doug also liked to travel, especially to warmer climates, having been to Europe, Arizona, Mexico, Cuba & Costa Rica. But the Kenora area was always home. He would often be seen outside puttering around the yard.
Doug loved spending time with his kids, sharing his love of the outdoors and getting involved with their various activities. He was an avid outdoor cook, from barbecuing to shore lunches, and even built his own outdoor pizza oven. In more recent years, he enjoyed staying young by hosting ‘summer camps’ for his grand-children and keeping up on all their latest adventures.
Doug is survived by his wife of 47 years, Allison, daughter Amber (Stephen), son Brian (Kylie) and grand-children Vaughn, Juliette, Avéa & Anderson. He will be dearly missed.
Cremation has taken place and a private ceremony will be held at a later date. A special thank you to the Critical Care staff & physicians at Thunder Bay Health Sciences Centre for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
