Vonda was born on April 1, 1942 in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. She was raised on the family farm south of Webb.

She attended Webb and Gull Lake Schools & later Lethbridge Business College. Once completed, she moved to Swift Current and worked as a bookkeeper. Vonda enjoyed spending time with her family, getting together with girlfriends and listening to country music. She developed a lifelong love of the creative arts, starting with ceramics and crocheting. She was also an amazing cook and enjoyed sharing her recipes with family and friends.

Vonda and Norm retired in 1985 moving to Blind Bay in the Shuswap Lake area, where she expanded her creative side with the Blind Bay Painters Club. She loved having family and friends visit them in British Columbia which often included a boat ride to copper island. Over the years Vonda and Norm traveled extensively, with winters in Arizona, fishing excursions up North and trips back home to the prairies.

Vonda moved back to Medicine Hat Alberta to be closer to her family and continuing her crafting with crocheted blankets for all as well personalized soaps and lotions…this time also created a nice balance of making new friends in Chartwell, as well as reacquainting with old friends in both Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Vonda was an exceptional mother to her children, grand-children and great-grand-children as well as a devoted friend to many who knew her… she was deeply loved and will be sincerely missed by her family and all who were lucky enough to call her friend!

The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the AgeCare SkyPointe Hospice Care in Calgary, Alberta for the exceptional care she was afforded during her short stay there.

At Vonda’s request there will be no formal funeral, but there will be a celebration of life at a later date.
