It was side-by-side racing action yesterday at Lake of the Woods Speedway.
Feature race winners included Alex Mira for a second week in a row in the WISSOTA Pure Stocks. Jake Mazur from Dryden stole the chequered flag from Brodie McGowan in a final straight stretch pass in the 4-cylinders, and after years of trying, Edward Bell won his first-ever feature race in the Q104 WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds.
“Tried to get it as close to perfect as I could and it seemed to be running really good tonight. It was good to win,” said Bell, after his victory.
Racing returns to Lake of the Woods Speedway Sunday, August 28, for the track championships. Fans can see a two day racing program next weekend in Emo.
Canada will finish its round-robin schedule at the world junior hockey championship in Edmonton tonight with a game against Finland that will determine the top spot in Group A.
Canada is 3-and-0 with 9 points, while Finland has 2 wins and an overtime win for 8 points. The only other undefeated team is the U-S.
The Toronto Blue Jays continue their six-day, six-game home stand with the opener of a three-game set against the Baltimore Orioles tonight. Toronto left-hander Yusei Kikuchi will face right-hander Kyle Bradish.
