Kenora's Jeff "Gussy" Gustafson is in South Dakota for day one of the 2022 Guaranteed Rate Bassmaster Elite on Lake Oahe.

Gussy is coming off a 20th-place finish at the Kenora Bass International. In his professional career, he has competed in 38 tournaments with 13 top 20 finishes, four top 10, one second place, and one first place at the 2021 Bassmaster Elite. Weigh-ins for day one will go 3:00 this afternoon. Good luck, Gussy!

In Kenora men's slo-pitch, Centuries beat Neechies 30-12, Tri Star Renegades destroyed Titan 34-8, while it was a closer game where DSmith A's took down Holmes Voodoo 7-6.

Canada is just 2 wins away from a World Junior Hockey Championship and they won't have to dethrone a defending champ in Edmonton to achieve their goal. Canada will play the surprising Czechia squad in tomorrow's first semifinal after the Czechs upset the unbeaten United States 4-2 last night. Finland and Sweden will square off in the other semifinal, with the winners playing for gold on Saturday night.

The Toronto Blue Jays open a 4-game series against the Yankees in New York tonight, hoping to build off a spirited 6-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday at Rogers Centre. The Jays snapped a 3-game losing streak, and also beat the Orioles for the first time in 6 attempts. Right-hander Jose Berrios will start for the Jays.
