Today is the deadline to put forth a nomination for the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections and three more people have joined the race for council, for a total of 15.

Incumbent Mort Goss has put forth his name for council in hopes of re-election. He was first elected to City Council in 2014 and he has served on a variety of municipal committees and boards.

Also throwing in their hats are Mark Perrault, former Chief Executive Officer of the Northwestern Health Unit, and Lisa Moncrief who sits on the boards of the Lake of the Woods Concert Group and Common Grounds: a Sharing of our Stories.

Goss, Perrault and Moncrief join the race with Graham Chaze, Lindsay Koch, Kelsie Van Belleghem, Mark LaBelle, Cecile Marcino, Chris Poate, Louis Roussin, Logan Haney, Barb Manson, Joel McGrath, Bob Bernie and Sharon Smith.

Currently, Andrew Poirier, Andy Scribilo and David Byers-Kitt have their papers in for Mayor.

Alone in the race for Catholic School Board Trustee is Lorne Temple.

Mayor Dan Reynard, as well as councillors Chris Van Walleghem and Rory McMillan, have all confirmed they will not be letting their name stand in this fall’s election.

Nomination papers are due this afternoon (Friday, August 19) at 2:00 p.m. The 2022 Municipal Election is set for October 24, 2022, with in-person, online and by-phone voting.
