The Central Plains FC is now in fifth place in the Manitoba Major Soccer League's 4th Division. The squad picked up a 2-0 victory on their home field last night against the Dirty Garrys. Midfielder Brett Hannah says they executed their game plan very well.

"It was a good game. We had a lot of one-touch or two-touch passes and had a lot of time in the middle of the field. They didn't have that many subs, and we capitalized on that when they got tired later in the game," Hannah explains. "We ended up putting one past them early and added one more in the second half. It was a good performance all around."

Central Plains has gone 3-2-0 in the month of August and now has a record 7-3-3 so far this season. Hannah says they've had some issues getting enough players to every game this month with many people going on vacations. However, he believes with September rolling around they should be in good shape going forward.

"We're playing a lot better. With people going on holidays, we're sticking with our core nine guys, and we're starting to mesh now and know where everyone is going to be. We shouldn't even have to think about making plays up the field or anything like that," Hannah continues. "I'm optimistic for the next three games, and playoffs should be pretty close."

Hannah describes one of the other challenges they have faced this year.

"Half of our team is from Winnipeg, so when the games are in Portage on a weekday, people can't get out. We all have jobs, so it's hard for the Winnipeg guys to get off early enough to make it. We have three games left, one in Portage and the last two in Winnipeg."

Central Plains' final home game of the regular season takes place on Sunday at 6 p.m. as they welcome the Hanover Strikers to Rotary Republic of Manitobah Park.
