What was supposed to only be a two-day trial for Whistle Stop Cafe Owner, Christopher Scott, will now have to wait until at least early October of this year.
The trial, which started on Tuesday, was supposed to conclude on Wednesday. However, the judge has granted the defence access to additional documents.
Chad Williamson, the defence lawyer for Scott, claims there was quite a bit of information that should have been provided by the crown prosecution but was not.
The judge has granted access for the defence to look at the emails of an Alberta Public Health Inspector. The health inspector, who is a witness for the prosecution, has been ordered to bring any emails or correspondence about Scott to court.
Alberta Health Services said they will conduct an internal review of the emails and will provide them to the court.
