With summer behind us, it is time to focus on back to school and safety tips for students and adults alike.
OPP Detachment Commander, Inspector Jeff Duggan offers tips for the first day back.
"Today is the first day of school, we're just asking that everybody that's travelling on the roadways to slow down, be cautious, be aware. Lots of kids travelling on their bikes, lots of kids walking to school, lots of school buses. Kids may not be into their routine yet, so we're asking drivers to slow down, look, and just be cautious of all the kids that are making their way to the first day of school," said Duggan.
Posting a photo of children on the first day back to school on social media is common, but Duggan adds tips for posting on social platforms.
"Parents should be cautious what they're posting on social media, especially about their kids. We don't want to giveaway information on where people are living, or how old their children are. Everybody posts back to school pictures of their kids, which is fine, but just make sure you're limiting the information that you're putting on social media," Duggan added.
