Lyle Cornelius Franklin Weber
September 25, 1955 – September 1, 2022
The family is very saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Lyle Weber, 66 years, of Lake Lenore, on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Humboldt District Hospital with his family by his side.
Lyle was born on September 25, 1955 to Frank and Anne (nee Qualey) Weber of Humboldt. He was the last child of 12. Lyle obtained his education at the Pleasantdale School. He was very active in many school sports, but track was his favorite and really excelled in it. He received many trophies and awards to honor his accomplishments. Lyle left school in grade 8 and later went to work in BC at the early age of 16, where he worked for a sawmill in Fraser Lake, BC and then for a gravel company out of Prince George, BC. After a year or two of working in BC, Lyle became homesick and returned to Saskatchewan where he worked as a farm hand for Ben Gerwing.
On July 2, 1974 Lyle met the love of his life Elizabeth Bacik in Melfort, SK and on March 29, 1975 they were wed in Quill Lake at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church. This union was blessed with two daughters Nora and Kelly. Shortly after being married Lyle started working as a farm labourer for Lung Seeds, where he would work for the next 18 years. As a family they had a couple of moves before settling in Lake Lenore in the early 80’s where they built their family home in 1984. Lyle’s main hobbies included fishing and hunting. He enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips with family and friends. He made many a mile driving and supporting the girls with their basketball and soccer teams throughout their school years. Lyle was their most avid fan. In 1998, Lyle and Liz’s world was turned upside down after their youngest daughter Kelly was involved in a serious car accident which left her with a severe brain injury. They then devoted their time to caring for her for the next 3 years. When Lyle was finally able to return to work, he was at Bourgault for 8 years and then went to Doepker’s for another 10 years before retiring.
Lyle’s two grandchildren, Kethia and Brock were the light of his life, and he enjoyed spending time with them both. He loved being connected to family especially his immediate family, but was always searching out his extended family. It didn’t matter if you were his first cousin or his twelfth in line he would connect and talk for hours with them to get to know them. Lyle and Elizabeth spent many hours working together in their “large” vegetable garden that seem to expand every year by another foot or two! Staying close to home and family were Lyle’s two loves. Lyle had a huge heart and enjoyed helping many different people/friends in the community. He always gave and expected nothing in return. Lyle had a deep faith and always saw the good and positive in people and the world. He loved listening to music of all kinds from church hymns to good old country music.
Lyle’s kind heart and giving personality will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years Elizabeth Weber of Lake Lenore and their two daughters and two grandchildren: Nora (Richard) Gies of Middle Lake and children Kethia Gies (Mike) of Prince Albert and Brock Gies of Middle Lake; and Kelly Weber of Humboldt; his best friend
and side kick Buddy, AKA Pooper; six siblings: step brother Clifford Arp of Regina, Kenny (Therese) Weber of Humboldt, Eleanor Massier of Airdrie, AB, Irvin (Donelda) Weber and Gerald (Jacquie) Weber of Melfort and Darlene (Phillip) Vipond of Regina; brother and sisters-in-law: Bev Goertzen of Saskatoon, Joe (Rhonda) of Saskatoon, Judy Crowe Buffalo (Glen) of Wynyard, Paul (Marlene) Bacik of Saskatoon, Con (Merv) Martin of Saskatoon; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Lyle was predeceased by his parents Frank and Anne Weber; parents-in-law Joe and Nora (nee Lilly and Bill Foster) Bacik; stepbrothers: Leonard (Alvina) Arp, Arnold (Bernice) Arp, Darwin (Lillian) Arp, Billy (Irma) Arp, and sister Marlene (Ed) Fazakas; brother and sisters-in-law: John Goertzen, Rick Bacik, Russell Bacik, Constance Bacik, (twins) Lana and Linda Bacik, and Elizabeth’s baby twin in infancy.
A Funeral Mass was held on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Lake Lenore, celebrated by Fr. Colin Roy and Fr. Prosper Abotsi. Interment will be held at a later date at the St. Augustine Columbarium. Memorial donations in Lyle’s memory may be directed to Humboldt District Hospital Foundation or Canadian Liver Foundation.
