Docks in northwestern Ontario had a rough spring. Three of them in Kenora are still closed after this year’s flooding.

The City of Kenora says they’re still inspecting 3 docks and 1 roadway in the area for damage after this spring’s high water levels and floods.

Last week, the City of Kenora said their Municipal Emergency Control Group and staff were working to inspect infrastructure that was affected by this year’s high water levels to ensure it was safe for public use.

They said the inspections included a number of items, like roadways, wharves, docks and more – but the city did not have a list of affected properties available.

But now, the city says only three docks and one roadway still need to be inspected – and work is continuing on one of the projects for two more weeks.

The city says docks that remain closed for inspections include:

- The 7th Street South dock,
- The Coney Island docks at the beach,
- The Keewatin Beach dock,

As well, crews with Moncrief Construction are continuing gravel remediation and ditch line work on Essex Road until September 16, with traffic control in place. The city says crews will be dispatched to inspect the work once Moncrief wraps up later this month.

City staff are asking for the public’s patience while these inspections and road work are taking place.
