Leslie Norman Howard
April 14, 1947 – September 4, 2022
Leslie Norman Howard was born on April 14, 1947, in Spiritwood, Saskatchewan. He grew up in Mildred, SK where he attended Cresco School. Until the age of 18, he worked for his dad on their sawmill, operated cat, worked on thrashing crews, and helped build the hospital in Kindersley, SK. He moved to the farm of Rose and Leonard Langenhoff in Fulda, SK and worked there as a hired hand from 1965-1972. In 1974, Les went to work at PCS in Lanigan, SK where he began his career in the potash industry as a millwright. He married Audrey Daratha in 1977, and they had three children together: +Lori, Michelle, and Heather. Les retired in 2007 after working at PCS Lanigan Mine for 33 years, where he made lifelong friends. He deeply enjoyed his retired years by spending time golfing, curling, hunting, fishing, quadding and snowmobiling. He also loved traveling and watching his grandkids play sports. His most recent new hobby was riding his shiny red e-bike. Les will be greatly missed by: his wife Audrey (née Daratha) Howard; children: Michelle Facca (Jerome Salvador) of Lloydminster, AB, and Heather (Leslie King) of Martensville, SK; grandchildren: Cole (Alexa) Hiebert, Cashton Facca, Makenna King, and Harrison King; sisters: Fern Chaykowski of Spiritwood, SK; Norma (Noel) Pell of Lacombe, AB, and Betty (Roman) Sawicki of Humboldt, SK; brother Jack (Jean) Howard of Flin Flon, MB; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews. Les was predeceased by: his daughter +Lori Howard (1978); father Norman Howard (1975); mother Lucille Howard (1997); brother Gordon Howard (2005); sisters Marie Monz (2008) and Vera Pitceathly (2015); parents-in-law Emilia (2003) and Peter Daratha (2016); brothers-in-law: Sandy Pitceathly (1975), Mathew Monz (1980), and Henry Chaykowski (2010); nieces Linda Campbell (1995) and Coreen Skarpinsky (2002); and nephew Bruce Chaykowsi (2015). The Funeral Mass was offered for Leslie Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, in Humboldt, Saskatchewan and celebrated by Fr. John Ezeoruonye. Others taking part were: Les King, cross bearer; Jerome Salvador and Alexa Hiebert, scripture readers; Cole Hiebert and Makenna King, intentions; Cashton Facca and Harrison King, gift bearers; and Ruth Johnson and Janice Korte, memorial table attendants. Music ministry was provided by pianist Carol Esler with soloist Marla Sawicki. A memorial luncheon followed in St. Augustine Roman Catholic Parish Hall and the interment will follow at a later date in St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery in Humboldt.
