A massive drug and firearm bust took place last week in the Fort Frances area, resulting in the seizure of large amounts of fentanyl, cocaine, a variety of pills and five firearms – four of which were loaded.
A 35-year-old Fort Frances resident is now facing a laundry list of charges, with many having multiple counts.
The Fort Frances OPP say they received a report that an individual pointed a firearm that another individual on the night of September 5. Then, on September 6, officers with the OPP and Treaty Three Police Service executed a search warrant at a Fort Frances residence.
During their search, officers found and seized 400 grams of fentanyl, 200 grams of cocaine, 100 Percocet pills, 30 hydromorphone pills, five firearms, ammunition and a taser – which is considered a prohibited weapon.
As a result, 35-year-old Jason Thomson of Fort Frances is facing charges of:
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm (four counts),
- Pointing a firearm,
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (three counts),
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000,
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose (four counts),
- Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition (six counts),
- Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm (two counts),
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon (two counts),
- Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm (two counts),
- Unauthorized possession of weapon (two counts),
- Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine,
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid other than heroin (three counts),
